Andree Jeglertz on Man City verdict: It is business as usual

City Women manager Andree Jeglertz has faced the first press conference involving club employees since the Premier League commission’s verdict, insisting it remains business as usual for his squad.

Jeglertz and defender Jade Rose spoke to the media ahead of City’s Women’s Champions League fixture and were repeatedly asked about the potential consequences of the findings against Man City. She faced seven questions on the subject before City’s press officer brought that section of the press conference to an end.

Jeglertz questioned over Man City verdict

Asked what the verdict could mean for the women’s team, Jeglertz declined to speculate.

“I don’t want to comment more around that.”

He was subsequently asked whether he still stood by the club following the findings.

“Definitely. I am working at the club now so that’s who I am hired by and working with, so, for sure.”

Jeglertz also said City’s preparations for their Women’s Champions League fixture had continued as normal despite the attention surrounding the wider club.

“I don’t think so. We have been training like normal and doing the work we can do to affect the game.”

According to BBC Sport’s report from the press conference, Jeglertz returned to the same message when questioned about how his players were handling the situation.

“We haven’t changed anything, we have just kept on doing everything we normally do.”

He added: “We can’t talk about anything else and we don’t need to talk about anything else at the moment.”

Rose was subsequently asked what information City’s players had received and said they had been given “the same messaging the public has”.

When the defender was asked whether the situation had caused concern within the squad, she responded: “I’m just here to talk about the football. That’s what we’re focusing on.”

Neither Jeglertz nor Rose indicated that City’s preparations had been disrupted. Equally, neither offered any detail about whether the women’s team could face consequences arising from the wider case.

City deny wrongdoing and have made clear their intention to challenge the commission’s findings. We previously covered how the club had been preparing for the decision in our report on the financial breach verdict timeline, while the potential next steps are examined in our piece on City’s appeal plans.

For Jeglertz, the message from the training ground was straightforward. His players have continued their normal preparations, while questions about what happens next in the Premier League case remain outside the scope of what he is prepared to discuss publicly.
