Man City announce expanded global partnership with SeatGeek

Man City have expanded their long-standing relationship with ticketing technology company SeatGeek into a new global partnership.

The two have worked together since 2018, with SeatGeek providing the technology behind City’s ticketing operation for matchdays, hospitality and concerts at the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium.

The new agreement extends that relationship and will also give SeatGeek greater visibility across City’s digital platforms and inside the stadium.

What the SeatGeek deal means for Man City fans

For supporters, the important part of the announcement is that City will continue to manage the direct sale and resale of their own tickets.

Fans will still purchase and manage tickets through the club’s website and app, with SeatGeek providing the technology behind those services.

City Football Group chief technology officer Greg Swimer said:

“Continuously investing in the best technology to improve the online ticketing and membership experience for fans is a key priority for Manchester City.”

Swimer described SeatGeek as City’s “trusted ticketing technology provider” and said the club was looking forward to continuing the relationship.

SeatGeek branding will now appear across City’s digital and social channels and inside the Etihad and Joie Stadiums on men’s and women’s matchdays. The company will also use the partnership to increase its profile in the United States.

SeatGeek originally became City’s primary ticketing technology partner ahead of the 2018/19 season. The latest agreement therefore takes an existing eight-year relationship and develops it into a wider commercial partnership.

For supporters, however, there is no new ticket-buying process attached to the announcement. City will continue to handle direct sales and resales through their own channels, with SeatGeek providing the technology behind them.

The deal comes as City prepare to return to Premier League action against Sunderland on Sunday, with Jeremy Doku potentially available after injury.
