Man City fans told to ‘keep an eye’ on Elliot Anderson transfer development
  • Elliot Anderson is heavily linked with Man City
  • Two offers have been rejected already
  • The Citizens are battling one large obstacle

Manchester City are expected to sign Elliot Anderson, but their pursuit is not about to get any easier.

The transfer window is officially open for business, which means Man City can get to work on signing players.

There have already been movements made to sign Elliot Anderson, with two bids already rejected for the midfielder.

However, City remain confident in their ability to complete a deal, and will try again at some point in the coming weeks.

Journalist explains Man City’s biggest problem

According to Marc McAdam, the Sky Blues are likely to complete the signing of Anderson before the transfer window closes.

Despite this, it will take time to secure the England international, due to the stubborn nature of Evangelos Marinakis.

“You get the feeling that he [Anderson] is headed to Manchester City, but it will only be on Marinakis’ terms,” the reporter said.

“He’s a tough negotiator and will only sell at a price he feels is acceptable. You get the feeling that Manchester City might have to go back once again with a slightly bigger offer. You also get the feeling it might happen after the World Cup.

“The one good thing for Manchester City – there are very few sides in the footballing world that can compete with the type of money that is being discussed for this particular player.”

McAdam added: “So yeah, one to keep an eye on as talks continue.”

Nottingham Forest are delaying Anderson’s move

Even if Man City match Nottingham Forest’s £130m asking price, signing Anderson might not be possible until July.

Forest would prefer to sell later as it will count as the next financial year, which is favourable to the East Midlands club.

Anderson wanted his move completed before the World Cup, but his future is ultimately in his current club’s hands.

What other positions need filling?

With Anderson likely signing and Rodri expected to stay, Man City will have resolved their midfield issues left by Bernardo Silva’s departure.

However, another right-back would be a useful addition, as Rico Lewis is considering his options after a season of few starts.

Additionally, City could use another winger, especially if Savinho completes a long-anticipated move to Tottenham Hotspur.
