- Man City bid for Elliot Anderson rejected
- Personal terms already agreed last month
- Midfielder wants switch completed quickly
Manchester City have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Elliot Anderson, but he is still keen on a move.
Even before Bernardo Silva announced his departure from Man City, the club had eyes on Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
The midfielder scored against City back in March, and he started all except one of their Premier League matches this season.
However, Man City’s opening bid for the midfielder has been rejected, with Forest eager to receive more than £100m from his sale.
Elliot Anderson wants his Man City move finalised soon
According to TEAMtalk, the Citizens have an advantage which could help them when it comes to negotiating with Evangelos Marinakis.
Anderson wants his future settled before he begins his World Cup campaign with the England national team on June 17.
Additionally, both clubs want clarity over Anderson’s future sooner rather than later, further increasing the chances of a prompt switch.
There is growing confidence that an agreement will be reached, allowing Anderson to complete his dream move.
Man City are wasting no time
Sky Sports have reported that City are already working on their next offer, as they look to bounce back from an initial setback.
And while Manchester United and Arsenal are both interested in Anderson, he is said to be ‘destined’ for a move to the Etihad Stadium.
In fact, Man City are in ‘pole position’ to complete a deal for the 23-year-old. So despite a failed opening attempt, things are looking pretty good.
Another England international for City
Man City have four players in the Three Lions World Cup squad, but one of these is John Stones, whose contract expires this summer.
However, the Sky Blues would see another England player added to their squad as a result of Anderson’s arrival.
This will not only please the club’s English supporters, but will be highly useful when it comes to UEFA’s homegrown player regulations.
