- Enzo Maresca is joining Man City
- Club announcement pending
- Coaching team already decided
Enzo Maresca has agreed to join Manchester City, and the manager has already assembled his new coaching team.
Man City’s managerial search has not been the most exciting, considering there has only ever been one candidate in their sights.
In fact, Pep Guardiola contributed to the hiring process, recommending Maresca due to the time he spent as his assistant.
There has been no official announcement as of yet, but one journalist has now described the manager as ‘confirmed’ to be joining the Citizens.
Enzo Maresca to Man City is a done deal
According to Nicolo Schira, Maresca’s move to Man City is a ‘done deal’, and it will not be long until an acknowledgement comes from the club.
🔜 Done Deal and confirmed! Enzo #Maresca is new #ManchesterCity’s manager. Contract already signed and staff just completed (there will be Willy Cavallero, Roberto Vitiello and Michele De Bernardin). #transfers #MCFC https://t.co/ryDTXnUkBw

The contract has been signed already, and the Italian now has his coaching team in place ahead of his arrival.
Willy Caballero, Roberto Vitiello and Michele De Bernardin will all be assisting Maresca. Additionally as we previously reported, Pol Planas will have a role too.
The return of Willy Caballero
It has been almost a decade since Caballero left Man City, but he will be returning to help bring the club success once again.
The move makes perfect sense, as the ex-goalkeeper was Maresca’s assistant at both Leicester City and Chelsea.
Caballero made 48 appearances during his three year spell at the Sky Blues, and he made three saves during the 2015/16 League Cup final victory over Liverpool.
Man City could see more former players become club coaches
With so many City greats either retiring in recent years, or being close to retirement, there could be more ex-players joining the club’s coaching staff in the future.
There were already murmurings about Vincent Kompany succeeding Guardiola, with the manager doing a fine job at Bayern Munich.
And a matter of days ago, Ilkay Gundogan revealed his intentions to become a coach, mentioning the prospect of coming back to Man City specifically.
