Chicago Fire join race to sign in-demand Manchester City star

Manchester City could lose one of their strongest performers this summer, with yet another club throwing their hat in the ring to secure his signature.

Bernardo Silva is having another impressive season at Manchester City and he has even added more physical attributes to his game.

However, the end of the midfielder’s nine-year spell in the Premier League could be in sight, as his contract expires this summer.

Silva is attracting interest from multiple clubs and so Man City will have to work hard in convincing him to sign a new contract.

Chicago Fire want to sign Bernardo Silva

Previous reports have revealed that Silva has options across Europe and the Saudi Pro League and now he could have the opportunity to move to America.

According to the Daily Mail, Chicago Fire are interested in signing the 31-year-old on a free transfer, should he refuse to commit his future to City.

The MLS side are understood to have held talks with Silva’s representatives and could offer the player a three-year deal which will see him earn up to £8.9m per annum.

With the World Cup approaching this summer, the MLS are looking to capitalise commercially on attracting big names, so Chicago’s interest in Silva is unsurprising. The club also have interest in Robert Lewandowski, who currently plays for Barcelona.

Silva could leave Man City along with Pep Guardiola

Silva is not the only person at City whose contract is close to reaching its end. His manager is contracted to the club for little more than a year and it has been reported that Pep Guardiola could depart Man City this summer, rather than seeing out his current deal.

Should this be the case, the time could be right for Silva to bid farewell to City. After all, he has been at the Etihad Stadium almost as long as Guardiola, arriving ahead of his second season in charge.

Despite this, nothing is confirmed yet and there is still a chance both Guardiola and Silva will continue to be employed by Manchester City next season.
