La Liga giants enter race to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City

Manchester City are looking to keep hold of Bernardo Silva beyond the summer, but the attacking midfielder has plenty of options available to him.

Bernardo Silva has spent one year short of a decade at Manchester City, but his current contract is set to expire this summer.

However, Pep Guardiola is keen on ensuring the Portuguese star is offered a new two-year deal which would put to bed any speculation regarding his future.

Despite this, nothing has been agreed as of yet and it is ultimately up to Silva whether he chooses to remain at Man City or write the next chapter of his career elsewhere.

Atletico Madrid join the race to sign Bernardo Silva

Manchester City have already held talks with Silva’s representatives in order to keep the player at the club for at least another year, according to Team Talk.

However, Barcelona are long-term admirers of the 31-year-old and there is concrete interest from Juventus, who have already made an official approach.

Silva’s former club Monaco could also look to sign him, while the Saudi Pro League is another potential destination.

And most recently, Atletico Madrid have entered discussions about Silva’s future, adding even more uncertainty about where he will play his football next season.

Silva is still an important player to Man City

It would be a huge blow to City if Silva does choose to leave this summer, considering he still plays an important role in Pep Guardiola’s first-team.

The six-time Premier League winner has featured in all 26 of their Premier League fixtures this season and replacing him after he has spent so many years there would be tricky.

Ultimately, City must respect whatever decision Silva chooses to make, but for now there is still time to convince him that staying put for a season or two is the right call for his career.
