Man City unable to sign England international due to release clause exclusion
  • An England international could leave his current club
  • Man City will be blocked from attempting to sign him
  • This is due to having a rivalry with the club in question

Manchester City will not be allowed to attempt the signing of an England international, who has not actually been linked with the club anyway.

The transfer speculation surrounding Man City has been intense, with two offers already made for Elliot Anderson.

City are also looking for a new right-back, while the wing position is another of their concerns ahead of the new season.

Options are currently being considered, and there is one attacker who has just been ruled out of a move to the Citizens.

Marcus Rashford is not allowed to join Man City

According to The Athletic, Manchester United have set a £40m release clause for Marcus Rashford, who spent the past season on loan at Barcelona.

However, this is not available to Man City and Liverpool, as the Red Devils do not want to sell to one of their rivals.

Therefore, the Sky Blues will not be able to look at Rashford as a potential wing option during the summer transfer window.

Man City were never going to sign Rashford

Carlos Tevez may have crossed the Manchester divide, but Rashford is a boyhood Man United supporter.

He has spent all his playing career at Old Trafford, excluding a couple of loan moves, and would likely be disinterested in joining City.

In addition to this, there have never been any indications that Man City are looking to sign Rashford anyway.

City will sign a winger later in the transfer window

Right now, getting a deal agreed for Anderson is Man City’s priority. Any other need in the squad is secondary.

After that, the right-back area is likely to be addressed, as there has been lots of speculation regarding options in the area.

So when City do eventually bring in a winger, it is likely to be later in the window, after Savinho has left the club.
