Manchester City have been linked with Pedro Porro, which has both positive and negative effects on those already at the club.

The right-back tasted Europa League success last season, but he has had to endure a difficult two Premier League campaigns with Tottenham Hotspur.

Man City are interested in adding the Spain international to their ranks, but Spurs are not keen to sell Porro.

However, as the defender only has two years remaining on his contract, there could be potential for a deal this summer.

This would resolve City’s right-back shortage, but it would not be great news for everyone involved at the club.

Here are the two players who would benefit most from the 26 year old’s arrival

Winners

Erling Haaland

Crossing is one of Porro’s standout qualities, which is great news for a player who spends most of his time in the opposition penalty area.

26 of the striker’s Premier League goals over the past season were scored inside the box, and three of those were headers.

So having Porro on the wing would definitely help Haaland, as it means he is likely to receive more service from the right side of the pitch.

Nico Gonzalez

Rodri could leave Man City this summer, and so long as Gonzalez does not depart himself, that would make him the only Spaniard left at the club.

Nevertheless, Porro’s arrival would see the midfielder joined by his fellow countryman, which would please him a lot.

Gonzalez has not played as much as he would have liked this season, so at least this would give him something to smile about.

Losers

Abdukodir Khusanov

Matheus Nunes has been rock solid this season, but Porro is not as strong when it comes to fulfilling his defensive duties.

The Tottenham full-back likes to drive up the pitch, often leaving areas of space behind him which the opposing team can exploit.

This will exert additional pressure on Khusanov, as he will have to make more recoveries. Then again, it allows him the opportunity to display his excellent pace, as Micky van de Ven has done at the North London club.

Rico Lewis

With Nunes making 49 appearances in all competitions this season, Lewis’ time on the pitch has been limited.

The 21-year-old did not manage to earn the trust of Pep Guardiola, and Porro’s arrival would give him absolutely no chance of making it at the Sky Blues.

Lewis would either have to leave the club on a permanent basis, or push for a loan move this summer. Otherwise, starting matches is a non-starter.
