Angry Ginge just made a ridiculous claim about Pep Guardiola’s Man City legacy

  • Takes aim at the manager’s Manchester City legacy
  • His argument is ignorant, full of flaws and biased

Manchester United superfan Angry Ginge has made an outrageous claim about Pep Guardiola which is simply untrue.

Winning the domestic treble would have been the dream Man City exit for Pep Guardiola, and he was not far off.

In the end, the manager had to settle for a double, as the Citizens lifted the Carabao and FA Cups in March and May respectively.

It may not have been Guardiola’s most successful season at City, but he still won more silverware than any other coach in the country.

Angry Ginge rips into Pep Guardiola

Despite this, Man United fan and YouTuber Angry Gingle [whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle] has bizarrely stated that Guardiola left Man City as a failure.

In fact, he revealed that he felt sorry for the Catalan, because he was unable to outwit his former apprentice Mikel Arteta in the Premier League.

The media personality told BBC Sport: “I actually felt sorry for him [Guardiola], because he left as a failure.

“You know, he’s left in his last Manchester derby getting played absolutely off the park, he’s finished second to his apprentice.

“Fergie left with a guard of honour – only certain men can do that.”

And when Guardiola’s collection of 20 trophies were brought up, Ginge responded: “We can all win a Community Shield.

What a load of nonsense!

Where do we begin with this? Firstly, how does one game define a manager’s level of success? Man City only lost 2-0 to United, but they actually defeated them by a greater margin earlier in the season.

As for Arteta, he may have finally got the better of Guardiola in the league, but one could say City played them off the park in the Carabao Cup final.

Moving on to his point about Sir Alex Ferguson, Guardiola was literally given a guard of honour at the Etihad Stadium.

In addition to this, only three of the 20 trophies won by the 55-year-old were Community Shields. Whereas Ferguson lifted 10! That is 26 per cent of all the silverware he won.

Guardiola proved he had longevity

While the 2024/25 season was extremely disappointing, Guardiola’s Man City bounced back in superb fashion.

By lifting two trophies and almost managing a third, Guardiola showed that he is still capable of competing at the highest level.

With 20 trophies added to his collection in a decade, he may well have overtaken Ferguson if he had remained at City for longer. Undoubtedly, he is one of the greatest managers the world has ever seen.
