- Man City have been linked with Azzedine Ounahi
- Girona are looking to sell
- Both clubs are part of City Group
Manchester City have been offered Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, with current club Girona keen to raise funds over the summer.
With an overhaul of Pep Guardiola’s squad expected at the end of the season, plenty of names have been linked to the Carabao Cup winners.
Club stalwart Bernardo Silva has announced his exit, while Rodri’s contract situation means the Ballon d’Or winner’s future remains uncertain.
City may therefore look to bring in a number of new additions to reinforce their midfield, with Girona’s Ounahi a potential low-cost option.
Man City linked with Azzedine Ounahi
After a breakthrough season and impressive performance at the 2022 World Cup, Moroccan international Ounahi moved from SCO Angers to Marseille.
Despite a tough time and unsuccessful loan spell with Greek side Panathinaikos, he has since moved to Girona and reignited his career.

The defensive midfielder has five goals and three assists in just 19 La Liga matches this season, and has now been linked with a move to City.
Girona looking to sell Ounahi
A key reason for Ounahi’s potential move to the Etihad Stadium is his release clause. At just €20 million (£17m), he is available for a very modest fee.
Plus, crucially, Foot Mercato are reporting that Girona want to sell the Moroccan to raise funds. With both clubs owned and operated under the City Group umbrella, negotiations would be swift and amicable.
Girona, who also sold Savinho to City back in 2024, have therefore offered Ounahi to the Premier League club as part of their efforts to balance the books.
A low-risk option for Man City
While Ounahi may not be the sort of signing that makes rivals sit up and take note, he does represent a low-risk possibility.
At just £17m, he would bring depth and competition to the Sky Blues’ midfield, without the significant investment usually needed for a player of his calibre.
If he thrives in the Premier League, his arrival would be a fantastic piece of business, but if he struggles, City have only spent a small fee, meaning they have little to lose.
