  • The FA have released a list of how much clubs spend on agent fees
  • It shows data from the past year
  • Man City are one of the highest spending teams in this area

The FA have revealed how much each Premier League club spent on agent fees over the past year and only two teams splashed out more than Manchester City.

There are a lot of costs to consider in football, especially when it comes to the transfer market. Transfer fees are an obvious expense, but there are also player wages and bonuses to sort.

Man City often find themselves among the highest spenders in these departments, with big names such as Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi recently joining the club.

However, agent fees are also a factor to consider and like the other areas of spending, not many clubs empty their pockets the way City do.

These of course are commissions paid to agents for negotiating transfers and contracts. They usually tend to range between three and ten per cent of either a player’s salary or their overall transfer fee.

Man City spent £37m on agent fees

Between February 4, 2025 and February 2, 2026, Manchester City spent £37.4m on agent fees, placing their net spend above that of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Despite this, Aston Villa spent £1m more than the Citizens, placing Pep Guardiola’s team third on the overall list.

There was then a huge leap to the top spot, with Chelsea racking up agent fees of £65m. Much of this money was spent while Enzo Maresca was in charge, the manager who is now linked with the Man City job.

Man City’s spending is not a cause for concern

To compete at the highest level of English football, being willing to spend large sums of money is a requirement.

Man City may be spending more on agent fees than all bar one of the so called big six teams, but only by slim margins.

Spending £65m would definitely be concerning, but that is a problem Chelsea will have to deal with. On the whole, City’s spending levels reflect that of an ambitious club who want to compete for titles.
