- Phil Foden has made 26 Premier League appearances this season
- He has recently been dropped from the first-team
- The midfielder has still managed to impress with his chance creation
Phil Foden’s time on the Manchester City bench has increased in recent weeks, but there remains one area where he is thriving.
Pep Guardiola has given Phil Foden a lot of chances to shine over the years at Manchester City, including this season.
However, the 25-year-old has only started two of his team’s past eight Premier League matches and he played just one minute of the Carabao Cup final.
This has raised speculation over Foden’s future at Man City, and yet according to one stat, the midfielder is actually having a strong season.
Phil Foden has created lots of chances for Manchester City
According to WhoScored, no English number 10 in Europe’s top five leagues has created more goalscoring chances this season than Foden.

The Citizen is tied with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White on 44 and he leads the likes of Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham.
Despite creating so many chances, Man City have failed to convert these into goals, as Foden has recorded just three Premier League assists this season.
Foden has to beat the competition at Man City
The reason Foden has not been starting for Man City is not because he lacks quality. Rather, it is due to the fact Guardiola is spoilt for choice.
Right now, the manager prefers to play Rayan Cherki as the team’s main creator, with Antoine Semenyo playing down the middle.
Foden needs to get back to his best and show he can perform at the level as these teammates. Otherwise, he could be watching on from the bench even more between now and the end of the season.
