- Erling Haaland recently visited a doctor in Barcelona
- This led to speculation regarding the striker’s fitness
- He is set to start for Norway on Tuesday evening
Erling Haaland is set to play in Norway’s next match, but this could be risky based on his current circumstances.
Last week, Erling Haaland caused alarm when he posted a picture of himself and Dr Ramon Cugat, a well known specialist from Barcelona.
Since then, Haaland played no part in Norway’s 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands on Friday night, adding to the curiosity surrounding his potential injury.
Norway manager Stale Solbakken does not appear to know what issue is affecting the 25-year-old, but he does not believe it to be serious.
Erling Haaland will start for Norway against Switzerland
Solbakken has not revealed Haaland’s injury and the pair have only spoken to each other briefly ahead of Norway’s next match.
Despite this, the manager has confirmed that Haaland will start when his team face Switzerland, although he might not play the full match.
Solbakken told Dagbladet (as relayed by Sport Witness): “From the little I’ve spoken with him, everything seems fine, so he’ll give it a try now.”
When pressed what kind of ‘injury are we talking about’, Solbakken replied: “There must be a reason he went to see a doctor, and it’s confidential, isn’t it?”
Haaland is needed at Man City
Norway’s next fixture is only a friendly, but Man City have some vitally important games coming up where Haaland’s services will be required.
This run begins with an FA Cup tie against Liverpool on Saturday, before Premier League clashes against Chelsea and Arsenal respectively.
Therefore, Pep Guardiola is unlikely to be pleased that Haaland is being risked for such an insignificant fixture.
Ultimately, Man City can only hope that any injury concerns the striker had are no more and that he will be fine following the international break.
