Manchester City have slipped nine points behind Arsenal and Ashley Williams has spoken about whether this is a gap which is now too big to overcome.

The Premier League title race was looking increasingly hopeful at the beginning of the month, but lots can change in the space of two weeks.

Manchester City now find themselves nine points adrift of Arsenal after failing to beat West Ham on Saturday night.

This has caused some of the club’s supporters to give up on the Premier League and some of the experts have lost faith in Pep Guardiola’s team.

Ashley Williams cannot see Manchester City winning the Premier League

This weekend’s episode of BBC Match of the Day saw Man City cult hero Joe Hart appear alongside Ashley Williams.

While the former goalkeeper still reckons his old club have a chance of winning the Premier League title, Williams has a very different defender.

According to the ex-Wales international, Man City do not have what it takes to make a comeback because they are not scraping wins like Arsenal.

Williams said: “Yeah, I’ve got to be honest, I think it’s Arsenal’s now [the Premier League title].

“I just think the way City aren’t putting those performances together or grinding out wins and Arsenal seem to be doing that.

“I think that’s just the difference this season.”

Pep Guardiola has backed Man City to keep on going

Pundits and fans can say whatever they please, but Pep Guardiola is not giving up on his team while there is still even the smallest of chances they will win the Premier League.

The Man City manager has heaped praise on his team while claiming the title race is not yet over, because they at least left the London Stadium with a point.

Guardiola told TNT Sports: “It’s not over [the title race] because we didn’t lose! It’s not over. We will continue.

“We have an incredible team, spirit, we fought after an incredible amount of effort in Madrid with the result. Not just stats, the feelings.

“We are an incredible team. We play so good. Until the end, we continue.”

Man City have matches upcoming against Crystal Palace and Chelsea before an all-important battle with Arsenal. Every single one of these fixtures has to be won, otherwise the Premier League trophy is heading for the Emirates.
