“It’s the least important thing”: Pep Guardiola unbothered after winning Premier League award

Pep Guardiola has given his reaction after being named Premier League manager of the month for Febraury.

Manchester City went unbeaten last month and closed the gap on Arsenal to only five points in the Premier League table.

As a result of this, Pep Guardiola received the manager of the month award for his leadership role in their success.

However, March has not been plain sailing for Man City, prompting Guardiola to deliver a brutal assessment on his recent recognition.

Pep Guardiola does not view his Premier League award with importance

Being rewarded on an individual level is all well and good, but Pep Guardiola is not particularly enamoured by his latest Premier League manager of the month award.

According to the Man City manager, it is not important in the grand scheme of things, which is likely because his focus is on getting his team to start winning again.

Guardiola said in his press conference: “Wow, finally,” when asked about his first time collecting the accolade since December 2021.

“It’s the least important thing in the world right now,” he added. “It doesn’t matter, honestly.”

Guardiola’s focus is on securing Man City silverware

Winning a monthly award cannot compare with a major trophy and this is Guardiola’s priority at this point in time.

Man City have a massive mountain to climb on Tuesday in the Champions League and work to do in order to catch up with Arsenal in the Premier League.

With the FA Cup and Carabao Cup still to play for as well, there is onlyone thought in Guardiola’s mind – to win a trophy.
