Rayan Cherki has revealed something interesting about Pep Guardioala’s feeling towards Bernardo Silva at Manchester City.
Bernardo Silva has been a reliable player over the years for Manchester City and he continues to start on a weekly basis.
The midfielder is likely to surpass 450 appearances for his club before the end of the season, although his position in the first-team has been called into question.
No Man City fan will deny that Silva has been tremendous during his days at the Etihad Stadium, but many feel he should not be starting so regularly. Or at least this was the case before his superb chip against West Ham on Saturday night.
However, Pep Guardiola has continued to put his trust in Silva and perhaps this is due to a bit of his own personal bias. Well, it depends on who you ask.
Rayan Cherki says Bernardo Silva is Pep Guardiola’s favourite
Recently, Rayan Cherki sat down with lequipe in order to answer some quickfire questions about his Manchester City teammates.
The attacker offered some interesting opinions, naming Ruben Dias as the most likely player at the club to become a manager.
He also said Abdukodir was the fastest member of the City squad, while Phil Foden embodied Manchester more than anyone else.
However, when asked about who was Guardiola’s darling, Cherki responded: “Bernardo Silva”, without even a hint of hesitation.
Guardiola’s relationship with Silva makes sense
Cherki’s decision to name Silva as the manager’s favourite should not be taken too seriously, but it does show how much he values the Portuguese international.
With Silva spending nine years at the club, of course he will have developed a good relationship with his coach.
However, since Silva’s contract is expiring this summer, Guardiola will likely have to find himself a new favourite, unless he too exits the Etihad Stadium for the final time.
