Barcelona eye move for Manchester City defender struggling for starts

Manchester City could receive an offer from Barcelona this summer for a defender who has only made 14 Premier League appearances this season.

More and more transfer rumours are beginning to emerge ahead of the summer and it seems there is one La Liga team who have been keenly watching Manchester City.

Barcelona are leading Real Madrid in the race to sign Rodri and it seems the Spanish midfielder is not the only Man City player linked with the club.

If reports from Europe are to be believed, Barcelona are looking to take another player from the Etihad Stadium to the Spotify Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s sporting director likes Nathan Ake

Defence is a key area where Barcelona are looking to improve this summer and the club are considering their options.

According to Catalunya Ràdio’s 3Cat, Nathan Ake is a potential candidate as he is highly popular with Barcelona’s sporting director Deco.

This is not the first time the European heavyweights have expressed interest in Ake, as he was considered in the mid-season transfer window.

Man City would be willing to allow Ake to leave for a ‘good price’ and Barcelona see him as a strong budget option, as they are also searching for a new striker.

Ake is likely to be sold by Man City this summer

It seems unlikely that Ake will remain at Man City, considering he is 31 years old and out of contract next year.

The club are unlikely to offer him a new deal, so Barcelona definitely have a decent chance of securing the defender, who can play as a centre-back or on the left.

With Ake benched multiple times in recent weeks, it really does feel like his days in Manchester are numbered.
