Pep Guardiola is up for a Premier League award due to Manchester City’s performances during the month of February.
Manchester City will be feeling down after dropping points in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest.
However, the Sky Blues had a much better time in February, overcoming a rough start after drawing 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur.
Pep Guardiola’s side trimphed over Liverpool at Anfield and put Fulham to the sword, before recording slim victories over Newcastle and Leeds United.
This saw Man City move within two points of Arsenal when the two teams had played the same number of fixtures. Of course, this gap is now much wider following the events of Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola nominated for Premier League manager of the month award
Man City were one of the top flight’s best performing teams in February, so it is no surprise that the Premier League have nominated Guardiola for the manager of the month award.
Brentford boss Keith Andrews has also received a nomination, along with Manchester United’s Michael Carrick and Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
Both Slot and Carrick have already won the award this season, in August and January respectively. Guardiola and Andrews on the other hand are yet to be named as the manager of the month during the current campaign.
Guardiola has had to wait a long time to receive this honour
Astonishingly, Guardiola has not been named as a Barclays manager of the month since the 2021/22 season, when he won the award in both November and December.
This is quite bizarre considering his team have twice won the Premier League title since then, highlighting just how subjective these things can be.
Considering the month City had in Febraury, it would be a borderline robbery not to allow Guardiola a deserved victory.
