Gary Neville asks Sky Sports to take him off Man City games

City could be without Gary Neville on Sky Sports coverage after the former Manchester United defender asked not to work on their matches for the next few months.

Neville made the request after covering City’s 3-0 win at Liverpool, saying he would be “absolutely delighted” to be taken off their games until the club’s appeal process has progressed.

Neville makes Man City request to Sky

“If you could take me off Manchester City games moving forward for the next few months until the verdicts have been heard, I would be absolutely delighted,” Neville said.

There has been no indication that Sky has agreed to the request. Neville’s comments came as he and Jamie Carragher discussed the difficulty of assessing City’s results while the club’s financial case remains unresolved.

The debate over how broadcasters cover City has grown since the independent commission’s findings. Oliver Holt has called for Sky and other broadcasters to stop showing City matches live, while The Athletic has questioned how Sky handles the situation as one of the Premier League’s major broadcast partners.

City have appealed against the commission’s findings and no sanction has yet been imposed. The timetable and possible outcomes are explained in our Man City appeal guide.

Neville’s comments followed City’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, which maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season.
