- Xavier Parker has interest from Liverpool
- Man City want him to remain at the club
- Transfer expert shares latest development
Manchester City teenager Xavier Parker is wanted by Liverpool, but his current club are working to ensure he stays put.
The summer transfer window can be an opportunity to sign promising new talents, but simultaneously, important players could leave.
This is already a known fact for Man City, with both John Stones and Bernardo Silva heading off once their contracts expire.
And they might not be the only ones. In fact, City would end up losing players who have not yet had a chance to break into the first-team.
Man City are working on a new contract for Xavier Parker
The most prominent of these young starlets is Xavier Parker, who is being linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Man City are ‘actively working’ to secure a new deal for the midfielder, who is only 16 years old.

Parker is viewed as an elite talent, and well he has admirers from several clubs, no official approaches have arrived yet.
Parker’s season in numbers
Over the past season, Parker has been playing for Man City’s under-18s team. He made 13 appearances in the U18s Premier League, and also appeared in the final.
Parker recorded six goals and seven assists in all competitions, playing 21 times in total across the campaign.
Additionally, he has been playing for the England under-16s team, which includes captaining them during his two most recent appearances.
Too versatile to lose
Man City have enjoyed having the likes of Nico O’Reilly and Matheus Nunes, who have the ability to occupy at least two different positions.
Parker is flexible in this way too. During the season, he has played as both a deep-lying and attacking midfielder, on the wing and up front.
This is the type of all-round talent a manager dreams of, so convincing him to remain at City is really important.
