Man City transfer news: updates on Elliot Anderson, Savinho and Rodri

Share

With Man City making their first bid for Elliot Anderson, to a Real Madrid presidential candidate claiming Erling Haaland wants a move, there is a lot going on today.

Tottenham could make an offer for Savinho soon

According to Sky Sports, Spurs are seriously considering having another crack at signing Savinho from City.

No direct approach has been made at this point in time, but movement from the North London club is expected.

In fact, Tottenham could table a bid in a matter of days, meaning Savinho could potentially be ready to leave Man City once the summer transfer window opens.

Man City want to sign a young right-back

According to BBC Sport journalist Shamoon Hafez, Man City are looking to sign a right-back to supplement Nunes, rather than competing with him.

The priority is to bring in someone who is both young and naturally suited to the position. Then eventually, they will be integrated into the first-team.

This means Pedro Porro is unlikely to be signed, a player who has been linked with Man City over the past couple of weeks.

After all, the Tottenham Hotspur defender turns 27 in September, and would be expected to rival Nunes for a spot in the starting lineup.

Man City have no plans to sell Rodri

While Rodri’s own stance remains unclear, Simon Bajkowski has revealed that Man City are looking to keep him.

The 29-year-old is still under contract, and is being counted on to still be around next season after the World Cup.

This comes as Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme has revealed that he will sign Rodri if elected.

He has also promised to sign Erling Haaland, making claims which have already been shut down by Man City and the striker’s agent.

Man City consider legal action against Real Madrid

Riquelme is competing against Florentino Perez for the presidency at the Spanish club, and he is going to extreme lengths in order to come out on top. In fact, he has gone so far as to claim that Erling Haaland wants to join Real Madrid

He said: “If I break my promises regarding either of these players, I’ve signed a guarantee where I’d pay 100 per cent of membership costs for next season. Haaland has a release clause, and he wants to come to Madrid.”

This comment has been met with immediate backlash, with Man City releasing a statement with threats of legal action.

The club’s spokesperson said: “The stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are untrue.

“There is no chance of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable it. We are considering legal action for the use of our player image in this context.”

Nottingham Forest reject Man City’s opening bid

According to The Athletic, Man City have made an offer for Anderson. This comes after club bosses spoke at a UEFA dinner last week, although that may well have had nothing to do with this situation.

Nottingham Forest have rejected the bid, with the club believed to be demanding more than £100m for the England international.

The positive news for City is that the Red Devils are not looking to meet Forest’s asking price, and now see other midfield candidates as more credible.

Therefore, it appears it is only the Sky Blues who are currently looking to agree a deal to sign Anderson.
