Eduardo Camavinga has told his agent he wants to stay at Real Madrid and has no interest in leaving this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, ending any realistic prospect of a move to Man City despite Los Blancos being open to a sale.
Romano reports that the France international has a “very clear intention” that he has communicated directly to his representatives — he does not want to leave the Bernabeu and feels he can continue to build a career there under Jose Mourinho for the 2026-27 season.
The update marks a shift from earlier reporting that suggested direct talks had taken place between the two clubs, with Real Madrid said to be willing to sanction Camavinga’s departure for a fee in the region of £52m as part of their own midfield rebuild. City had been credited with interest given the 23-year-old’s versatility across midfield and at left-back, a profile that would have suited Enzo Maresca’s system.
Camavinga’s stance closes off that route for now, regardless of Real Madrid’s openness to a sale. It leaves City’s midfield business this summer built around alternatives rather than a player who has publicly committed his future to a rival, with the club having already made Elliot Anderson’s British-record £116m arrival from Nottingham Forest the centrepiece of that rebuild.
For City, the effect is clear: one option off the board, with director of football Hugo Viana’s planning in that area understood to be well advanced regardless of how the Camavinga situation developed.
This is an update to our earlier coverage — Camavinga’s stance means he should no longer be considered a live target in City’s summer plans.
