Erling Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has explained why Manchester City are such a difficult club to negotiate with.

Erling Haaland’s future at Manchester City already looks more secure than most players. The Norwegian striker signed an extension just last year with Man City.

However, deals of this scale also require constant back-and-forth between parties. While Haaland’s relationship wth the club has always been of mutual respect, contract negotiations aren’t as easy, claimed his agent.

In an interview with ESPN, the striker’s agent, Rafela Pimenta, revealed what it is really like to deal with the Sky Blues.

Rafaela Pimenta explains Man City negotiation difficulty

Being one of the biggest names in world football, naturally, his contract negotiation would also be as complex.

Likewise, Pimenta suggests that the Citizens aren’t an easy party to deal with, and their methods make such negotiations even more difficult.

“Because they are very serious, very organised. They are very big. They know what they are doing, have a lot of experience, they actually need nothing; they have everything. So, we have no room for negotiation,” Pimenta said.

Furthermore, in the interview, the agent also talked about Haaland in person. Unlike other stars, the goal machine is quite a personable character, according to the Brazilian.

“His demeanour is very informal; he is very pleasant to deal with, very relaxed and modest. He doesn’t like to be in the spotlight. He doesn’t like nonsense. He likes to focus on what really matters: football. To him, football is the most serious game you can play,” she added.

Man City’s negotiation strength shows why Erling Haaland deal matters

Haaland’s long-term commitment to the club is a major statement. The Norwegian signed the deal last year, which lasts till 2034.

The striker effectively signed a deal worth almost a decade long. It is one of the longest extensions in football history.

However, despite his status, the negotiations weren’t easy for Pimenta. Almost every elite club would be interested, even if there was a small opening around Haaland’s future.

Nevertheless, City have structured themselves differently. Considering their recent sporting success and long-term planning, they approach deals without desperation.

City Football Group’s resources allow them to make players work around their terms, even if it is one of the best strikers in world football.

Haaland’s personality makes him easy to work with

Pimenta’s praise for Haaland’s personality is also important as it explains the lack of personal problems with managers.

The Norwegian’s attitude fits with most managers who want their players to be humble and avoid dressing room problems.

A player with Haaland’s profile doesn’t always end up this way due to the constant noise and speculation surrounding their career.

However, his mentality has kept him level-headed. Likewise, he’s now fully focused on the campaign and will be hoping to win the treble this season.
