Manchester City have already experienced one success this season, but Erling Haaland has explained why this is not enough.

Last season was a bitter disappointment for Manchester City, who failed to win a trophy for the first time since 2016/17.

It was only Pep Guardiola’s second season at the Etihad Stadium where he did not lift any silverware, as City fell short on all fronts.

This was far below Man City’s usual standards, but this wrong has been righted with a Carabao Cup win last month.

Despite this, Haaland has made it clear that City have no intentions of settling for just one success during the current campaign.

Man City must build on their Carabao Cup triumph

Winning the League Cup was never Man City’s main ambition for the season. Rather, it is the foundation required to move onto bigger and better things.

This is certainly Haaland’s train of thought, as the Norwegian wants to build on his team’s existing success.

“City is a club you should come to and win trophies. We won a trophy a few weeks ago which was a nice feeling. We have to build on that,” he told Man City.

“We have to want more and win trophies every season because that’s the standard we have here.”

Haaland is doing all he can for Man City

It is all well and good to have aspirations of winning trophies, but having the right attitude is essential in making this achievement possible.

Haaland is very much focused on doing everything in his power to drive Man City towards victory, showing he is more than just a talker.

When asked in another interview how important it was for him to always give 100 per cent, the striker told Stan Sport: “It’s crucial. It’s my job to be in the best shape and the best Erling Haaland as possible.

“So then I should respect City and do everything I can to give back the best version of myself, both in training and especially in games.”

Haaland needs to be end his Premier League streak

Although Haaland was superb two weeks ago against Liverpool, he has gone three Premier League matches without a goal contribution, his joint longest run of the season.

When the 25-year-old fails to score, it often hurts City. This has been highlighted by the fact that they recently failed to beat both Nottingham Forest and West Ham when Haaland blanked.

However, he scored against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season, and will be hoping to go the same at the Etihad on Sunday.
