Man City transfer news: Elliot Anderson, Givairo Read, James Trafford
Check out all the latest transfer gossip surrounding Manchester City, as we bring you all the latest news on the potential arrivals and departures at the Etihad.
Kyle Walker is concerned by Man City’s Elliot Anderson pursuit
While Man City are optimistic about getting a deal done for Anderson, ex-Citizens Kyle Walker has his doubts about whether they should even bother.
The right-back knows he is an excellent player, but has concerns about what this means for Rodri’s position in the first-team.
Walker told talkSPORT: “It’s obviously great for the football club, but what about Rodri? A Ballon d’Or winner we’re talking about here. Can you fit both of them in the team?
“Is Anderson gonna want to go further forward? Is Rodri gonna want to go further forward? For me, you kinda keep the squad as happy as you can do.
“And I know Rodri personally, and if someone comes in at £130m, you’re gonna want to play football. Is that gonna ruffle a few feathers? Hopefully not!”
Givario Read addresses Man City and Bayern rumours
Read has spoken about the apparent interest from City and Bayern, and he views this as a huge ‘compliment’.
However, the young Dutchman is aware that neither club is yet to make an official offer to secure his services.
“I read them, that would be a compliment, but to be honest, I don’t concern myself with that much right now. That’s something for my agent,” Read told Voetbal Primeur.
“At this moment, I don’t know what the future holds. If an opportunity arises, I’ll discuss it with my family and agent, people closest to me who know me best.”
James Trafford does not want to decide his future yet
With Trafford’s frustrations well-documented, Newcastle United have re-entered the race to sign the England shot-stopper.
However, according to The Athletic, Trafford wants to prevent making a decision on his future until after the World Cup.
This might be too late for the Magpies, who will be looking to have as many players as possible in place for their pre-season preparations.
Additionally, no formal negotiations have taken place at this point in time, which increases Man City’s odds of keeping Trafford.
Elliot Anderson will not join Man City this month
According to talkSPORT, Nottingham Forest are unwilling to formalise Anderson’s exit until July at the earliest.
This is due to the fact that it is more preferable for the club to declare a sale during the next financial year.
Therefore, even if City meet Forest’s demands sooner, the 23-year-old will remain a Forest player throughout June.
