Givario Read addresses Man City links ahead of potential summer transfer
  • Givairo Read comments on Man City’s rumoured interest
  • He has left the door open to a move this summer
  • Bayern Munich are also admirers of the right-back

Givario Read has spoken about the speculation surrounding his future, and it sounds like he could be up for a move.

Manchester City need a new right-back, especially if Rico Lewis decides to move on during the summer transfer window.

Matheus Nunes has done an excellent job in the role, but the club need a solid back-up option with the potential to become a regular starter.

City have shown interest in Givairo Read, who currently plays for Feyenoord. However, Bayern Munich are another team to be weighing up an offer.

Givario Read addresses Man City and Bayern rumours

Read has spoken about the apparent interest from City and Bayern, and he views this as a huge ‘compliment’.

However, the young Dutchman is aware that neither club is yet to make an official offer to secure his services.

“I read them, that would be a compliment, but to be honest, I don’t concern myself with that much right now. That’s something for my agent,” Read told Voetbal Primeur

“At this moment, I don’t know what the future holds. If an opportunity arises, I’ll discuss it with my family and agent, people closest to me who know me best.”

Read’s comments will have City excited

It is clear that interest from Man City has flattered Read, meaning he is likely to be keen on a move if the option arises.

Additionally, while he is not pushing for a move now, what he has said indicates that he is ready to leave Feyenoord.

City simply need to place a bid for Read and see what happens, provided he is definitely the right-back they want.

Bayern could be a stumbling block

The downside to a City move is that there are no guarantees Read will receive minutes on a regular basis.

In fact, it is most likely that he would start in domestic cup fixtures, while Nunes would play in the Premier League.

Bayern do already have options in the position too, but a move to Vincent Kompany’s side means the chance of winning a league title is highly likely.

Plus, Bayern reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, and will be looking to go all the way during the next campaign.

Therefore if Man City are to go for Read, they must be ready to do battle with the German giants.
