- Manchester City host Liverpool in the FA Cup this weekend
- The home team are two wins away from reaching the final
- Mohamed Salah has learnt whether he will be fit to play
Manchester City have received an update on Mohamed Salah’s muscle injury ahead of this Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Liverpool.
The FA Cup returns this weekend and Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool is arguably the most anticipated fixture of them all.
Man City have already overcome the Reds twice this season and another victory on Saturday would see them advance to the semi-finals at Wembley.
One of the biggest talking points leading into the fixture is the fitness of Mohamed Salah, who missed Liverpool’s most recent match due to a muscle issue.
The winger has not taken part in Egypt’s matches during the international break and an update has now been given on his future.
Mohamed Salah should be fit to play against Manchester City
According to The Guardian, Liverpool are ‘hopeful’ that Salah will be ready in time to play against Man City on Saturday.
Apparently the 33-year-old has responded well to treatment and there is confidence he will be involved at the Etihad Stadium.
Salah might not be having his best season at Liverpool, but he is still a threat, having recorded 10 goals and nine assists during the current campaign.
Three of these goal contributions have come in the FA Cup, despite the fact he has only made two appearances in the competition.
Nico O’Reilly will look forward to facing Salah for Man City
As previously mentioned, Salah has struggled more than usual this season, as seen when the Citizens played Liverpool in November.
Man City thrashed their opponent 3-0 in the Premier League and Nico O’Reilly did an excellent job at keeping Salah quiet.
With the Englishman in fine form after the Carabao Cup final, he will be relishing another opportunity to prevent the forward from causing any kind of attacking threat.
