- Omar Marmoush signed for Man City in January 2025
- The striker has made 29 club appearances this season
- Egypt’s manager suggests he could eventually leave City
Egypt manager Hossam Hassan has made a bizarre claim about Omar Marmoush’s future prospects away from Manchester City.
Omar Marmoush is having an interesting first full season at Manchester City. He has only started 13 matches in all competitions, but often makes appearances off the bench.
The striker has recorded six goals and three assists, with all except one of his scores coming in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup competitions.
With only one Premier League goal to his name, there are definitely questions about whether Marmoush will ever be a first choice starter at Man City.
However, his international manager Hossam Hassan has even bigger aspirations for the 27-year-old which involve him leaving the club.
Hossam Hassan says Omar Marmoush might quit Man City for La Liga
Marmoush was on the scoresheet when Egypt defeated Saudi Arabia last week and his international manager is seemingly impressed.
According to Hassan, Marmoush could become as good as Mohamed Salah, while a move to La Liga could be in the cards at some point in the future.
“The whole world is watching him,” Hassan said of Marmoush, as reported by Ismael Mahmoud.
“Since a young age, he has continued to gain experience and develop his abilities through his presence at big clubs, whether in Germany or England.
“He still has a long path ahead of him and the opportunity to become one of the world’s stars like Mohamed Salah,” the manager continued.
“He has great potential, good speed, and skill. Marmoush improves every year, and at some point, he may play in La Liga, as he deserves that.”
Marmoush is already playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs
Hassan’s comments do not seem to make much sense. Firstly, Marmoush is already 27. He may have potential, but claiming he could go on to reach Salah’s levels is perhaps a little far fetched.
Then there is the fact that Marmoush already plays for Man City, who have consistently been one of the best teams in the Premier League over a span of multiple years.
This is a club who won the Champions League three seasons ago, managed by one of the greatest bosses around.
The key to Marmoush’s future success is not about switching teams, but becoming an undroppable starter at Man City.
In order for this to happen, he needs to be consistent and show that his goalscoring abilities can be expanded to any occasion, including league fixtures.
