- Man City have won the Carabao Cup
- Opta’s predicted Premier League table has been updated
- Not much has changed
The Opta Supercomputer has revealed how much of a difference Manchester City’s Carbao Cup final victory will make in the race for the Premier League title.
Manchester City have defeated Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final and there is still a chance the two teams will do battle again for the FA Cup.
On top of this, Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta’s sides are at war for the Premier League, with the Gunners currently holding a nine-point advantage.
However, with Man City gaining momentum from their triumph at Wembley, there have been talks about a potential comeback from the 10-time winners of the top flight.
Opta Supercomputer backs Arsenal to win the Premier League
The Opta Supercomputer is constantly updating and there has been a refresh since Man City lifted the Carabao Cup on Sunday evening.
Despite this, Arsenal have still been given a 97.55 per cent chance of winning the Premier League title, with an expected points tally of 84.59. Whereas City only have a 2.45 per cent likelihood of being crowned as the champions of England.
In fact, the Supercomputer reckons both Manchester United and Aston Villa will finish closer on points to the Citizens than they will to the predicted Premier League winners.
The Supercomputer failed to predict the Carabao Cup final correctly
Although the Supercomputer’s predictions are based on logic, it can get things wrong, as seen regarding the Carabao Cup final.
Man City only had a 24 per chance of beating Arsenal, but they ended up winning rather comfortably in the end.
Therefore, City’s dressing room will feel confident that after pulling off one supposed upset, they can do so again in the Premier League.
