- Man City beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final
- Arsenal are still top of the Premier League
- Joe Hart expects ‘twists and turns’ before the season ends
Manchester City got the better of Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final and Joe Hart has revealed whether he thinks this will have an impact on the Premier League.
There is no question that Manchester City deserved to win the Carabao Cup, after blowing Arsenal away in the second half.
Pep Guardiola’s team had a lot more quality and imagination on the day, while Arsenal kept looking to slow the game down.
It is therefore a little surprising that in the Premier League, the Gunners have been a far superior team, as they lead the way by nine points.
Of course, the result of the Carabao Cup final could affect both teams in their final few league matches, but Arsenal are still best placed to win the title.
Joe Hart still believes Arsenal have an advantage in the Premier League
Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart will be rooting for his old club in the Premier League and he expects some ‘twists and turns’ before the season ends.
However, Hart has made it clear that Arsenal deserve to sit top of the table and their position there gives them the advantage over Man City.
Will the result of the League Cup Final have an effect on the title race?

He told BBC Sport: “They’ve got plenty to focus on, plenty to be grateful for. I think they got beat fair and square today, but sometimes like I say you’ve just got to shake hands and say the better team won.
“I think when it comes to the Premier League, the best team will win it. So, I think Manchester City have put themselves in a spot now, they were in a spot where that game would have been, it felt like it would have been everything.
“Do I think both teams are capable of winning all their remaining games?” Hart asked. “I don’t think so.
“So look, I think there’s going to be a few more twists and turns, but Arsenal have put themselves in an incredible position, they deserve to be where they are.”
Man City have to beat Arsenal again to win the Premier League
The Carabao Cup final saw Man City defeat Arsenal for the first time since 2023 and in order to win the Premier League, another victory is required next month.
Should the Sky Blues fail to win this match at the Etihad Stadium, the title race is likely to be over, even if the Gunners drop the odd point before the season ends.
However, if City can beat Arsenal again and also win their game in hand, their prospects of winning the Premier League title will shift dramatically.
