Manchester City have won the Carabao Cup and Antoine Semenyo believes his team can further add to their trophy cabinet this season.

This time yesterday, Antoine Semenyo had never won a trophy, but this is no longer the case for Manchester City’s January addition.

The Ghanian international was back in the starting lineup for the Carabao Cup final and he played his part in a 2-0 victory over Arsenal.

While this win means a lot in its own right, Semenyo believes Man City could use it as a stepping stone to something even bigger.

Antoine Semenyo believes Man City can win the Premier League

Semenyo revealed after the final that he was feeling quite calm heading into the match and he has the same mentality when it comes to the Premier League.

Even though Man City trail Arsenal by nine points, Semenyo reckons his new team have gained enough confidence to seriously challenge the Gunners for the league title.

He told Sky Sports: “It [winning the Carabao Cup] gives us confidence coming back after the international break, and hopefully catching up.

“I feel like momentum can swing very quickly. So we just have to do our job leading up to that game [against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium], and hopefully we can finish off the job professionally.

“We’ve got top quality players, we create a lot of chances, and we’ve got good goalscorers. So listen, it can change very quickly.”

Man City have to win at Stamford Bridge

While Man City’s Carabao Cup triumph has given them added belief concerning the Premier League, Arsenal are still very much in control.

To put it simply, City have to win every match that remains, including a fixture against Chelsea the week before Arsenal visit the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues are in poor form, but even still, playing at Stamford Bridge is never easy and Semenyo and his teammates will need to show what they displayed on Sunday.
