  • The Opta Supercomputer has made a prediction for the Carabao Cup final
  • It believes Arsenal have the advantage
  • Man City are still in with a shout though.

The Opta Supercomputer has delivered its verdict on the Carabao Cup final and Manchester City supporters will be hopeful that it gets this one all wrong.

Arsenal are undefeated in their 14 most recent matches in all competitions, which says a lot about what Manchester City are up against.

Worse still, the Gunners have gone six matches unbeaten against Man City, scoring 10 goals in those fixtures compared with City’s five.

However, Manchester City are having a strong League Cup campaign and will be looking to right the wrongs of the past week with a victory on Sunday.

Opta Supercomputer predicts an Arsenal triumph in Carabao Cup final

Despite the positives of Man City’s past results in the competition, the Opta Supercomputer has given Arsenal a 51 per cent chance of victory against the Sky Blues.

Man City are deemed far less likely to secure a win, with their hopes resting at a modest 24 per cent, which is a significantly lower figure.

Although it is worth noting that on the same day this fixture takes place, Rayo Vallecano have been given an 11 per cent chance of defeating Barcelona.

In comparison, Man City’s likelihood of a victory is much stronger, so they have not been written off entirely.

Man City will not be bothered with pre-match predictions

The Opta Supercomputer has made incorrect predictions before, as have all the pundits predicting Man City to fall short in this weekend’s final.

Any opinions on City ahead of the game should have no effect on them at all. They just need to show what they are capable of and focus on themselves.

In the previous round, the Citizens decisively conquered Newcastle, the reigning champions of the competition.

Pep Guardiola knows how good his team are on their day and he just has to ensure they are ready to perform when the pressure is at its highest.
