Manchester City are keen on an Atletico Madrid midfielder and could look to agree a deal which would be a huge benefit to both parties.
Jeremy Doku has featured in most of Manchester City’s matches this season when he has not been injured.
However, the winger has often appeared off the bench due to the competition which currently exists in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
This has opened up questions regarding his future and Atletico Madrid are said to be keeping tabs on Doku’s situation, with his contract set to expire in 2028.
Manchester City could sell Jeremy Doku in a swap deal
According to Fussballdaten, Doku is unhappy with his role at Man City, which has caused him to consider whether he actually wants to extend his contract.
Playing time is very important for the 23-year-old and he may be guaranteed more of this at Atletico Madrid.
It could be that there is room for a swap deal between the clubs, because Man City are interested in Pablo Barrios. With Rodri and Bernardo Silva’s contracts running low, the midfielder would be a useful signing.
The fact both players have a similar valuation of around £55m makes a deal even more likely. However, there is still a chance Atletico will want to hold on to Barrios, with Koke not as young as he once was.
Man City are not actively looking to sell Doku
Previous reports indicated that Man City are looking to agree a new deal with Doku, so it is not like the club are eager to offload him.
There has also been no evidence to suggest that Atletico are interested in letting go of Barrios, so any potential swap deal is mere speculation at this point.
It does seem like this type of transfer would work well for both teams, but it is about whether or not they are willing to let their respective players move on.
