Erling Haaland in race against time to be fit for Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester City host Nottingham Forest on Wednesday and Pep Guardiola has been asked about whether Erling Haaland will be available for selection after he missed the victory over Leeds United.

Saturday saw Manchester City defeat Leeds, with Antoine Semenyo’s strike just before half-time proving decisive in settling proceedings.

This came as a relief to Man City, as it was revealed before the game that Erling Haaland would miss the match after picking up an injury in training two days earlier.

The Premier League’s current top scorer only recently returned from his previous injury, but there are no concerns that this one will be anything long-term.

However, with City back in action during the week, there are doubts over wheter Haaland will be match fit for the clash against Nottingham Forest.

Pep Guardiola has limited information on Erling Haaland

When Haaland picked up his injury, Guardiola decided to keep things quiet until shortly before the game at Elland Road kicked off.

Whether he is intentionally doing the same ahead of Man City’s match against Nottingham Forest remains to be seen, but no clear answer has been given on when Haaland will return.

Guardiola told Beanyman Sports: “I don’t have the answer right now. He was not ready for Leeds, but we have four days before Nottingham Forest.”

Man City should cope without Haaland against Nottingham Forest

No match in the Premier League is straightforward, but Forest failed to win a single Premier League fixture in February and they sit 17th in the table.

Therefore, Man City should really be picking up another three points, whether Haaland is available or not.

It might be a good idea to rest the centre forward anyway, considering City have an FA Cup tie at the weekend, before facing Real Madrid in the Champions League
