Pep Guardiola still wants to bring two players – a goalkeeper and a forward – before the transfer window closes according to the Independent. He has instructed director of football Txiki Begiristain to go out and find him players who fit his demands, and bring them to the club before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Concern still remains from Guardiola about the abilities of Joe Hart, which has led to persistent speculation during the summer. There are doubts about whether his distribution and ability using his feet is adequate, which is why Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was heavily linked with a move. However, Barcelona’s unrealistic demands for the German seem to have put City off making a move, and Pep has told Txiki to look elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the Catalonian manager wants a new forward with Wilfried Bony set to depart Manchester before the end of August following a failed 18 months in Manchester. That would leave him with just two recognised senior strikers – Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho – and Guardiola wants to bring someone in who is proven and would work as a solid back-up for Aguero.
Bony has failed to settle in at City since arriving from Swansea in January last year, although many believe that had he been able to earn a run of games then his place of the team would’ve been more justified. However it has been clear since the beginning of the summer that he was not part of Pep’s plans for the new era at City.
