Manchester City have learned which team they must defeat in order to make it to Wembley Stadium and it is safe to say, the draw could have been a lot easier.
Tension was in the air last Wednesday when Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest. As a result, there was uncertainty surrounding whether Pep Guardiola and his team had it in them to defeat Newcastle.
However, fast forward a few days and Man City are FA Cup quarter-finalists after a stunning 3-1 victory at St James’ Park.
Now, there is only one team left to defeat in order for City to be back at Wembley for the FA Cup semi-finals.
Manchester City draw Liverpool in FA Cup quarter-finals
Joe Hart and Joe Cole have just conducted the FA Cup quarter-finals draw live from the London Stadium and Man City will be facing Liverpool.
This is set to be a brilliant cup tie, with plenty of action and controversy taking place when the two teams met last month in the Premier League.
Manchester City emerged victorious that day and they battered Liverpool 3-0 earlier this season at the Etihad Stadium.
Therefore, there will be a feeling of confidence in Pep Guardiola’s squad, as they will have the home advantage this time around.
Liverpool have won decisively in each round of the FA Cup
While Man City have a superb record against Liverpool this season, Arne Slot’s men are performing well in the competition.
Liverpool thrashed Barnsley and Brighton in the third and fourth rounds respectively and most recently they got the better of Wolves at Molineux.
This was a significant result, because just days earlier the Reds suffered a surprising defeat to the Premier League strugglers in the English top flight.
Despite this, Man City are having a strong tournament too and the players will certainly be giving their all in what is the standout tie of the quarter-final fixtures.
