Pep Guardiola has told Samir Nasri he can leave Manchester City according to the Daily Telegraph, ending rumours about his future which have persisted all summer. The midfielder struggled with injuries over the last two seasons and now looks to be on his way out after five years in the north-west.
Nasri joined from Arsenal in a £24 million deal in the summer of 2011, and went on to play a key role from midfield as The Blues won the league in his first season with that dramatic final game against Queens Park Rangers. He won another league title as well as two Capital One Cup trophies (scoring a brilliant goal in the 2013 final to put City ahead) but has had less and less of an impact as time’s gone on.

He missed the vast majority of last season through injury, returning for the final weeks, and hasn’t done enough to convince Pep Guardiola to give him a place in his City revolution. The France international was videoed training away from the rest of the squad last week, and it is thought he came back from summer holidays overweight. Despite having lost some of this, it would appear the Catalonian manager has told him he can leave.
It is thought that City are eager to get around £17 million for the 29-year-old, with both Milan clubs and Roma keen to sign him. A move to Inter seemed most likely, but may have now hit a roadblock with the sacking of Roberto Mancini, the man who brought Nasri to City in the first place, by the Italian club.
