Leroy Sane’s injury is nowhere near as serious as fans thought according to ESPN correspondent Jonathan Smiffy, who says he has had it confirmed that the German simply had a hamstring tweak which caused him to miss out on the friendly defeat in Sweden against Arsenal.

Rumours were circulating on Twitter that Sane had picked up a much more serious injury to his hamstring – potentially a tear – which was set to leave him on the sidelines for several weeks having only just signed from Schalke.
Sane was missing from the squad which flew to Gothenburg to take on Arsenal in the final game of pre-season, along with a number of other players including Nicolas Otamendi and Wilfried Bony. However, it seems that his ailment isn’t serious and he shouldn’t be out of the squad for too long.

The 20-year-old was a long-term target for City before they finally managed to seal the deal and bring him in from Schalke last week for a deal which starts at around £37 million but could increase with add-ons. He was chased by a number of Europe’s top clubs at different points this summer, but The Blues beat off their main challenger, Bayern Munich, to bring in one of the Bundesliga’s brightest young talents.
City have less than a week to go before the new Premier League season kicks off with a visit from Sunderland on Saturday.
