City have completed the signing of Marlos Moreno from Colombian club Atlético Nacional, making him the latest signing of the Pep Guardiola era. The 19-year-old is likely to go out on loan to La Liga club Deportivo La Coruña, easing up some of the overcrowding in midfield for The Blues.

With Moreno now on the books, City have a wealth of talent out wide, with Leroy Sané and Gabriel Jesus both expected to sign too. The Blues have already brought in Nolito from Celta Vigo, without letting anyone significant leave, creating difficulties for Guardiola in deciding who to play out wide. A loan deal for Moreno allows the Colombian international to develop in Europe, while making it easier for the Catalonian manager.

Moreno made his debut for Nacional in the 2014 season, playing once, but made his real breakthrough last year, playing 17 times in Primera A, netting five goals. This year, he’s made another nine league appearances, but is yet to score. The 19-year-old made played a further 13 games in this year’s edition of the Copa Libertadores, including in both legs of the final against Independiente del Valle, winning 2-1 on aggregate earlier this week.
The move to Manchester was delayed by Moreno’s continued participation in South America’s continental championship, but he’s now been able to fly to England to complete a deal for around £8 million, making him one for the future.
