Gabriel Jesus could be confirmed as a Manchester City player by Thursday according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol on Twitter. This reflects the ramping up of City transfer activity as we draw closer to the start of the Premier League season.
Twitter: Gabriel Jesus will be confirmed as Manchester City player in next 24 hours. Turned down Barcelona. City deal for Moreno also very close (@SkyKaveh)
The young forward has been linked with many of Europe’s finest this summer, including both of Spain’s top sides and Manchester United. However, despite more attractive offers from both Old Trafford and the Nou Camp, Jesus has elected to move to Manchester and play under Pep Guardiola.
This season has been a strong one for the 19-year-old, who is top scorer for Palmeiras despite it only being his second professional season. He has netted 19 goals in 33 games for the club this season, and is the Brazilian Serie A’s top scorer for the year, with 10.

Solhekol has also confirmed that Atletico Nacional midfielder Marlos Moreno is very close to finalising his move to City. The young winger will be loaned out to Deportivo La Coruna, where he has been pictured in recent days, waiting for his move to The Blues to go through.

This summer has seen a flurry of activity from City, who are looking to rebuild after a poor showing last season. They’ve already completed the signings of Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and Nolito among others, while John Stones is also expected to join from Everton. Gabriel Jesus will be loaned back out to Palmeiras until the end of the Brazilian league series in December, when he’ll move to Manchester on a permanent basis.
