According to a report from Jamie Jackson and Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian, Manchester City are interested in signing Schalke forward Leroy Sane, the player previously linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
When Liverpool were linked with a move, the reported fee was roughly £10million, however, a solid campaign has seen the asking price rise dramatically to £32million, which likely rules out the chances of Sane moving to Merseyside.
Sane, who was capped by Germany for the first time during the now infamous game in France, has been in fine form for his club this season, and Schalke think their asking price is a fair one, although the Guardian seem to believe that £25million would be enough to secure a deal for the 19-year-old.
Equally comfortable playing on either flank or as a number ten, Sane has scored four times in the Bundesliga this season, and also has the same number of assists.
Coincidentally, the forward excelled has come up against City on a few occasions in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League International U21 Cup.
City forked out a lot of money on wide forwards in the summer, but if Sane is the talent that many believe he is, they could look to sign him up now before his value increases as he fully develops.
The Blues also brought in a number of young players in the summer, with the likes of Enes Unal, Patrick Roberts and David Faupala. The new CFA facility means the club and attract youth players of the highest quality, and Sane would appear to fit the profile.
