Manchester City will look to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan ahead of next season, according to a report in the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
According to the report, Pep Guardiola – tipped to become Man City boss next season – has already spoken to the hierarchy at the Etihad Stadium and has instructed them to tie up a deal for the 25-year-old.

Gundogan’s contract in Dortmund will expire in 2017, so a big-money summer move is certainly not out of the question, with the German side known for allowing it’s star players to move on to ‘bigger’ sides.
Obviously, there is no official word as to whether Guardiola will indeed take over at City next season but the signs are that he will, although it’s unlikely that the club would admit to this while Manuel Pellegrini is looking to lead the side to both domestic and European success this campaign.
