Kristoffer Ajer reveals Erling Haaland mood after Man City verdict

Erling Haaland has shown no change in his behaviour since the verdict in Manchester City’s Premier League case emerged, according to Norway teammate Kristoffer Ajer.

Haaland has been away on international duty during a turbulent period for Man City, but Ajer offered an insight into how the striker has handled the headlines while with his country.

Speaking before Norway’s Nations League meeting with Wales, Ajer said: “He’s been exactly the way he always is with the national team.

“He’s really focused on the upcoming games, and I think he’s trying to do the same as everyone else in waiting to see what the outcome is. But right now the main focus is Wales tomorrow night.”

Haaland unchanged in Norway camp

Ajer also revealed that City’s situation had barely been discussed among the Norway players.

“We’re just footballers. We don’t know all the ins and outs and all the stuff that’s been talked about in the media. So we haven’t really had any discussions about it,” he said.

Norway manager Stale Solbakken had already kept Haaland away from media duties as questions intensified around City. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Solbakken also declined to reveal whether he had discussed the situation privately with his striker, saying: “What we speak about is between him and me.”

There has been little wrong with Haaland’s goalscoring form. He went into the international break leading the domestic goalscoring charts after helping City put together a five-win sequence.

Ajer’s account suggests the off-field developments haven’t altered Haaland’s approach with Norway either. Whatever comes next in City’s case, his international teammates have seen the same player they are accustomed to having around them.
