Erling Haaland has found another benefit to City’s perfect start to the Premier League season — he can finally get his hair cut (again).
The City striker had reportedly decided to wait until his side had won five consecutive Premier League matches before visiting the barber. Five games into the season, job done. For Manchester United supporter Frank Ilett, better known as The United Strand, the wait goes on.
Haaland completes his five-win challenge
City’s 5-3 victory over Sunderland on Sunday made it five league wins from five for Enzo Maresca’s side, leaving them three points clear at the top going into the international break.
Football on TNT Sports spotted the obvious comparison with Ilett, posting: “Shots fired from Erling Haaland” and pointing out that the Norwegian had completed his five-win challenge while the United fan was still waiting.
Ilett began growing his hair in October 2024 after promising not to cut it until United won five consecutive matches. He came within one game of completing the challenge earlier this year, only for a draw against West Ham to end a run of four straight victories.
Haaland has had considerably less time to worry about split ends. City have won their opening five Premier League matches this season, with the striker scoring five times in the competition and seven goals in seven appearances in all competitions.
His late goal against Sunderland helped make sure the scissors could finally come out. For The United Strand, they remain safely in the drawer.
