Enzo Maresca is expected to take a strong City squad to Hong Kong and South Korea for the club’s pre-season tour, despite several high-profile players being unavailable.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, Josko Gvardiol, Rúben Dias and january signing Antoine Semenyo are all expected to travel, even after their involvement at this summer’s World Cup.
Kalvin Phillips is also understood to be part of the Man City travelling party, while a late decision will be made on Jack Grealish. The winger is continuing his recovery after undergoing foot surgery in February and is not yet back to full fitness.
Several senior players are expected to miss the tour. Sam Lee reports that Elliot Anderson, James Trafford, Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guéhi, Rayan Cherki, Rodri and Erling Haaland are not expected to travel.
The pre-season trip will give Maresca valuable time on the training pitch ahead of his first full Premier League campaign in charge, with City using the fixtures in Hong Kong and South Korea to continue building fitness and integrate players into the manager’s tactical approach.
Man City have not yet confirmed their official travelling squad, but if those plans remain unchanged, supporters can expect the majority of Maresca’s senior options to make the trip to Asia.
