Man City are among the clubs to have heard from Vinicius Junior’s camp again, with his representatives indicating a move away from Real Madrid is realistic this summer.
According to TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, City have reaffirmed their interest alongside Arsenal and Liverpool. It follows more than a year of stalled contract talks between the winger and Real Madrid, who are reportedly unwilling to match the wages he wants.
Not everyone has it the same way. David Ornstein’s reporting, relayed by Ben Jacobs, makes this more of an Arsenal story. Liverpool, on that account, were offered the move and turned it down — Andoni Iraola’s side said to be focused on the right wing instead.
Where City actually stand is harder to pin down. TEAMtalk have them as active participants; others don’t mention them at all.
There’s an obvious backstory. Rodri’s proposed move to Real Madrid is still unresolved, and a fee for him would hand Madrid funds that, in theory, make it easier to let Vinicius leave.
Whether City would put any of that money toward a forward of Vinicius’s calibre is a separate question. Nothing here suggests talks have gone beyond the early stages.
Real Madrid have told Vinicius: sign a new deal, or the club will consider offers. City’s interest is real enough to report. An approach is another matter.
