Manchester City’s Seoul leg of the 2026 Asia Tour has become the first clean tactical gauge of Enzo Maresca’s new reign.
City have confirmed that Maresca’s squad will play twice at the Seoul World Cup Stadium after opening the tour against Inter Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, August 1.
The Blues then face a K League All-Stars XI on Wednesday, August 5, before returning to the same venue against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, August 9. Both Seoul fixtures are scheduled for 13:00 UK time, with CITY+ subscribers able to watch the games live in permitted regions.
Seoul World Cup Stadium holds 66,704 supporters and previously staged three matches at the 2002 World Cup, including Senegal’s famous opening-game win over France. It also hosted City’s rain-delayed 2-1 defeat to Atletico during the 2023 Asia Tour.
Maresca Gets A Pre-Season Stress Test In Seoul
This is not just a commercial tour (although it is very much that). For Maresca, Seoul offers two contrasting examinations inside four days: a locally assembled K League side carrying rhythm and intensity, then an Atletico team built to punish everyone and everybody.
That makes the double-header a useful early measure of City’s pressing distances, rest-defence shape and midfield spacing before the 2026/27 campaign starts to harden.
