- Guardiola has spoken publicly about his future
- The former Man City boss also discussed Barcelona
- His comments offer a reminder of his wider football philosophy
Pep Guardiola has offered a fresh glimpse into life after Man City as the legendary manager weighs up his next step.
Guardiola’s Man City exit marked the end of one of the most dominant managerial eras English football has seen.
The Catalan coach transformed City into one of Europe’s most consistent sides, winning major trophies while also changing how many people viewed possession football in the Premier League.
However, following his departure from the Etihad, Guardiola is not sure what could come next as he gives fresh updates regarding his future.
Guardiola admits uncertainty after Man City exit
While inaugurating a Cruyff Court in Manresa, Guardiola was quizzed about his future. The former City boss admitted that he does not yet have a clear answer.
The former Barcelona midfielder would like to settle down for a while before deciding on his next move in the beautiful game.
“I don’t even know myself,” Guardiola said. Given his success in Europe, Guardiola will naturally continue to be linked with major roles whenever they become available.
However, his comments suggest that he is not rushing into another role. The gaffer has mentioned managing an international team for some time now, but the opportune moment is yet to come.
Guardiola break could delay next major job
Guardiola has already managed Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City, leaving very few obvious club destinations that would match the scale of his previous jobs.
Italy remain alert after failing to qualify for three consecutive World Cups. Reports suggest that they could be aiming to hire the former City boss.
However, with the Catalan manager determined to take time off from football, the Gli Azzurri might have to appoint someone else instead.
Guardiola now has no obvious next destination
Reports have also suggested that Guardiola is keen on the England job, but Thomas Tuchel remains contracted with the Three Lions until the end of Euro 2028.
Under the German manager, England have won 10 games, lost twice and drawn once. However, the World Cup remains the big test for Tuchel.
While England have usually remained stable when it comes to managers, bad runs across different competitions might offer Guardiola a chance at international football.
