Nathan Ake could leave Man City for Turkish giants

  • Nathan Ake receives interest from Turkey
  • Could move away from Man City
  • Multiple clubs queuing up for defender

Nathan Ake has been the recipient of a lot of attention already this summer, and a Turkish club have joined the race to secure his signature.

When Nathan Ake commented on his future back in March, it was to exclaim that he had no idea when he would leave Man City.

And as recently as last month, Pep Guardiola confirmed he was unsure when Ake planned to depart the Citizens.

Currently, the Dutchman only has one year remaining on his contract. So based on how limited his role has been over the past season, he is either going to leave now, or in a years’ time.

Nathan Ake is receiving interest from Fenerbahce

According to Nizaar Kinsella, one of Fenerbahce’s presidential candidates wants to sign Ake this summer.

It is expected that the 31-year-old will be sold, after a campaign where he only made 18 appearances in the Premier League.

Aziz Yildirim has been working alongside the Turkish club’s technical director, and discussions have already been held with Ake’s representatives.

Ake has a number of options

News recently emerged that Ake is wanted by Bournemouth. As well as being his former club, the Cherries will be competing in Europe next season.

The Premier League side are not alone in their interest, with three Serie A clubs linked with Ake as well.

Considering the Netherlands international is still a fine player and could be available on the cheap, it is no wonder he is coming up in so many conversations.

Keeping Josko Gvardiol becomes essential if Ake leaves

Ake’s departure should not hit City too hard. After all, he has not been a regular in the starting lineup during the past season.

Despite this, his versatile ability to play in the middle or out wide has proven useful in the past for Man City.

Josko Gvardiol is capable of doing the same, but he too has been linked with an exit, with interest emerging from the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Therefore, if Ake does head off in the next month or two, it is really important that City are able to convince Gvardiol to stay, and even sign a new contract.

matchday.
